New beginnings this September...

I hope this message finds you well and that your studies are progressing smoothly. Some of you have only just started working with me so you are finding your feet.

As we step into September, I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the significance of this month. To me, September always feels like a fresh start—a chance to reset, refocus, and approach our goals with renewed energy. Whether you are preparing for upcoming exams or simply navigating your academic journey, this is a perfect time to embrace new opportunities and establish positive habits.

As you continue your studies, I wanted to share a few wellbeing ideas to help you stay balanced and maintain a healthy mindset during this busy period:

  1. Create a Study Schedule: All my students send me their weekly plans for the week ahead every week without fail...this is great for accountability! Structure your time by setting specific study goals for each day. This helps prevent last-minute cramming and reduces stress as exams approach.

  2. Take Regular Breaks: Incorporate short breaks into your study sessions. A 5-10 minute break every hour can do wonders for your focus and productivity. You can also use the pomodoro timer in my website to help with each task.

  3. Practice Mindfulness: Even a few minutes of mindfulness or deep breathing exercises each day can help calm your mind and improve concentration. Subcribe to my youtube channel (if you have not already) where more and more meditations will be added as we go. It is a great way to completely switch off!

  4. Stay Active: Regular physical activity, whether it’s a walk, a workout, or some stretching, can boost your energy levels and enhance your mental clarity. I love just getting out into nature - no matter what is going on, I feel nature brings me a sense of calm.

  5. Prioritise Sleep: Ensure you are getting enough rest each night. A well-rested mind is more capable of retaining information and performing well under pressure. Create a bedtime routine... a candle, soft music, bubble bath or some journalling to close the day off. We cannot change the past or predict the future, all we have is this moment....

  6. Stay Hydrated and Nourished: Proper nutrition and hydration are key to maintaining energy and focus. Make sure to eat balanced meals and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Add in some well deserved treats!

I’d also like to share some of my own top tips that have been particularly helpful for me:

  • Get Sunlight on Your Face: I make sure to get sunlight on my face within 30 minutes of waking up. It really helps to wake up my body and set a positive tone for the day.

  • Hydrate First: Before reaching for my morning tea, I drink a glass of water. It is a small step that makes a big difference in keeping me hydrated and alert. I also stay off any social media of the first hour! (this can be really hard!).

  • Magnesium Supplementation: I’ve been topping up on magnesium lately, and it has made a noticeable difference in my overall wellbeing. It helps with relaxation and supports my energy levels throughout the day. I currently use purolabs - it is a great site with some great reviews and it just feels good knowing my body is getting what it needs. Everyone is different of course and we all have different needs.

  • Daily Meditation: Just 10 minutes of meditation can bring clarity to your day, but consistency is key. To make a real difference, it is important to incorporate meditation into your routine regularly. Just as with your studying, you do not see results until you consistently do something!

  • Self-Care is Essential: Remember, self-care is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Taking time for yourself is crucial to maintaining balance, especially during demanding periods of study. If you need some one to one support in a tailored wellbeing plan then please contact me direct and I will work with you through this journey.

I’m also excited to share that I am now offering 1:1 tailored meditations. These sessions are personalised to fit your specific needs, whether you have a particular challenge or goal in mind. If there is something specific you are dealing with this week, I will design a meditation that is uniquely suited to you. Please feel free to reach out to schedule a session—I’m here to support you in every way I can.

Additionally, I’m thrilled to let you know that I’m working on the launch of my new journal, “Living One Day at a Time.” This journal is designed to help you focus on daily progress, embrace mindfulness, and cultivate a balanced and fulfilling life. I can't wait to share more details with you soon! I have had lots of requests the last year or so for this so I am excited that I have carved some time out to get this done!

Remember, progress is made step by step. If you need any support or guidance—I'm here to help you succeed.

Wishing you a productive and positive month ahead. Let’s make September your best month yet!

As always my kettle is on for a chat....

Merinda xx
